No vehicles within 5-km radius of Shivaji Park

From 6am on Sunday morning, no vehicles will be able to ply within a 5-km radius around Shivaji Park, Dadar, where supporters of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's can pay their last respects. Also, the Western and Eastern express highways will be closed for commuters on Sunday.

Traffic police have advised those visiting Shivaji Park to pay their respects to Bal Thackeray to alight at Five Gardens and walk to the ground. The Mumbai traffic police's plans for traffic movement will be in place for the whole of Sunday.

Traffic on the Western Express Highway will be diverted to SV road and Link road, which will be open for traffic round the clock, while traffic on the Eastern Express Highway will be diverted to Ambedkar road and LBS Marg.

Vivek Phansalkar, joint commissioner of police (traffic) said: "The Dadar Tilak Bridge, Dadar TT and Kalanagar will be kept closed for vehicles on Sunday."

Police officials have been posted at almost all major bus stops and bus stations across the city. Timely announcements about the traffic situation will also be relayed through FM channels.
