Known as a high-profile beautician, Nooria is said to have elite clients in the city.

She is a resident of B.S. Road in Colaba.

Her father, Major (retd.) Dr. Yoosuf Haveliwala, served the Indian Army and is now a visiting physiatrist at several city hospitals.

She has two brothers. Both are working in America. Nooria’s father, who was present in the court when she was produced before the magistrate on Saturday, refused to comment.

The Mumbai police will approach the American Consulate to learn more about Haveliwala’s background.

“We would like to know if she was arrested in the US earlier on drug-related charges or had been part of any drug rehab programme,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Nandkumar Chaugule said.
