With this, the city has got five prepaid taxi services. The state government is now looking at starting prepaid autorickshaw service in the next fiscal.

The taxi service will be operated on basis of tariff approved by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority. In addition, the passengers will have to pay Rs10 and Rs15 service charge for booking of yellow-black and cool cabs respectively. Night charges will be 25% extra , and luggage measuring 60cm x 40cm will be charged Rs6 per bag.

"Considering the good response generated by prepaid taxi services, the state transport department plans to start prepaid autorickshaws," said VN More, transport commissioner.

During the inauguration, state transport secretary Shailesh Kumar Sharma said, "Prepaid taxi service at Dadar and other terminus have generated good response. We are considering starting prepaid autorickshaw services at LTT, Kurla, Bandra, Thane, Kalyan and Andheri."

"If the state sends us a proposal to start prepaid auto service at LTT, we will consider it,' said a railway official requesting anonymity, as he is not allowed to speak to the media.
