Only vegetables, fruits to be sold at wholesale market

While the Federation of Association of Maharashtra (FAM) has announced a bandh on Monday and stated that the wholesale Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) market in Vashi too will be shut, several wholesale markets have decided to function as usual.

APMC director (vegetables) Shankar Pingle said the vegetable market will not shut down. “Vegetables are essential and perishable products. Besides, we have already had two holidays in the week. Any more will hurt everyone,” he said.

Another director, Ashok Walunj said the fruit and onion and potato markets too will function as usual.
