The charging of overhead wires involves supply of electricity to these wires from a transformer installed at the power substation. MMOPL has two power substations – Versova and Marol – to supply electricity to the overhead wires on the stretch from Versova metro station to Marol metro station.

MMOPL has reportedly finished 99% of the civil work on the metro corridor and installation of transformers and the signalling system is underway.

The overhead wires from Versova Metro station to a pier near Navarang theatre will be charged with 25000 Volts, 50 hz AC, on March 22 while supply of electricity to the overhead wires from Navrang theatre to Marol metro station will be started on March 31.

After charging, the overhead wires will be live and people are strictly advised to not approach or work anywhere near these overhead wires.
