With vacations starting, you and your family may be planning to go out of the city. But the police need to be on alert to protect your home.

With the city witnessing a spurt in cases of house break-ins during vacations, the police have decided to increase patrolling in vulnerable areas and have also recommended housing societies to follow certain guidelines.
“We have asked housing societies to be fully prepped up during the holidays. They must be vigilant. Proper instructions should be given to the security guards so they can carry out their duties sincerely,” said Nisar Tamboli, spokesperson of Mumbai police and deputy commissioner of police, zone 2.
There will be an increase in patrolling in areas that witnessed an increase in criminal activities, he added.
RS Khakale, senior inspector, Nirmal Nagar police station, said, “We are going to put up digital-flex hoardings in our jurisdiction to create awareness amongst the residents. The hoardings will carry guidelines and recommendations for those going on a holiday.”
The hoardings will urge the residents to inform their neighbours about their visit as well as the police.
“The residents should also register their domestic help and the security guards of their housing societies with the police,” said Khakale.
