Policeman's wife behind printing fake currency notes: Patil

The wife of a police constable in Pune is behind the fake currency racket unearthed in January, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil informed the Assembly in Mumbai on Thursday.

The wife of a police constable in Pune is behind the fake currency racket unearthed in January, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil informed the Assembly in Mumbai on Thursday.

"The police constable's wife is the mastermind of the fake currency racket," he said in a written reply to a query by MLA Vilas Lande and others.

The constable, Abasaheb Mulani, is attached to Vishrambaug police station in Pune.

His wife was among the 10 persons arrested for alleged involvement in the printing of fake currency notes, Patil said.

The suspects were allegedly printing notes at their flat at Handewadi for the last six months.

The Shirdi police busted the racket after arresting six persons who came to Shirdi with fake currency notes with aface value of Rs 11,000.
