Blaming Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi for the incident, Raj said: “We didn’t mean to disrespect the Assembly. It was Azmi who started it. The government has taken action against my men, but still hasn’t taken any action against Azmi.”

Four MNS legislators were suspended for four years for assaulting Azmi in the Assembly on November 9 for taking the oath in Hindi, not Marathi.

Raj, who was addressing a meeting of party office bearers at Shanmukhananda Hall on Tuesday, also attacked the Shiv Sena, saying its members didn’t have the courage to stand up against people like Azmi.

“Azmi speaks against Balasaheb and all the Sena leaders do is ask him what he said. They should have beaten him up but they won’t, because they don’t want cases against them.”
