The police said that prima facie, robbery seems to be the motive behind the crime.

The deceased, Nalini Chai-nani, stayed on the 10th floor of Madhuban Society in Bandra (W) with her husband, police said.

According to the police, Chainani was in touch with her husband till 5.30pm, after which she stopped responding to his messages. He returned from work around 8.15pm to find her lying in a pool of blood.

After valuables from the home were found missing, the Bandra police registered a case of murder and robbery against unidentified persons. Police said the couple was expecting workers at their flat.

“We are recording statements of guards and residents. We are also checking for CCTV footage,” said an officer.
