Sharad Pawar to undergo surgery on Wednesday

Supriya Sule, Pawar's daughter and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) member of parliament from Baramati declined to go into the details of the proposed surgery on her father.

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will undergo a minor throat surgery here Wednesday, a family member said.

"He will be admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and the surgery is slated for the next day (Wednesday)," Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule told IANS Monday evening.

However, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) member of parliament from Baramati declined to go into the details of the proposed surgery on her father.

"This is a technical matter and only the doctors attending on him can give details," she said.

In the past, Pawar was operated for mouth cancer in India and abroad.

A party spokesman said that Pawar may remain out of action till the weekend after the surgery.

The Pawar family lives very close to the Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai.
