According to the victim’s elder sister, the teenager is scared since the past few days, after the incident came to light. “Since yesterday, she is suffering from high fever and is recuperating in the hospital. She has not been eating food properly for the past two days and is in a bad condition,” said the sister, who is married and stays in Govandi.
The sister has alleged that neighbour Shanta Gaikwad took away the victim, who resides with their mother in Filterpada at Powai, under the pretext of training her to do domestic work.
“Over a period of time, Gaikwad took the victim to three or four other places, where she was molested. We saw her (victim’s) behaviour change and so questioned her, only to realise that she was pregnant,” said the victim’s elder sister.
