Skipping work got him caught
Pravin Sonawane’s absence from the bar rather than his presence got him caught on Sunday morning, Pratik Salunke reports.
Pravin Sonawane’s absence from the bar rather than his presence got him caught on Sunday morning.

During investigations, the police found that Sonawane had taken leave on Friday and skipped work on Saturday. They grew suspicious while eliminating suspects who had skipped worked as there was no forced entry into the bar. Also, since no valuables were stolen, police suspected an inside job and revenge as the motive.
The police tracked Sonawane’s phone records, which indicated he kept switching off his phone during the two days. “His conduct was suspicious. After executing the murder, Sonawane also tried to gauge the mood at the restaurant by contacting an employee. He told the employee that he was planning to go to his home in Yavatmal in an hour,” said an officer. Police have recovered a broken strap of Sonawane’s watch from the crime scene.
“After killing the trio, Sonawane took a taxi to Charni Road where he met a woman and headed to Girgaum Chowpatty,” said an official. Sonawane had worked at three places before he joined Natraj bar and has no previous criminal record.
