Legal luminaries opined that several trials were being expedited after the Bombay high court in June asked trial courts to conduct hearing of criminal cases on day-to-day basis.

Criminal lawyer Sudeep Pasbola, president of City Civil and Sessions court bar association, said, "We need more judges and prosecutors to ensure speedy trial. Also, courts conducting the trial shouldn't be burdened with other work," he said

Lawyer Amin Solkar , said the mechanism for speedy trial already exists, "but is not implemented as the prosecuting agencies are not well trained and equipped."
