The Maharashtra government on Friday announced its 2012 cultural awards to performing artists.
It has decided to give filmmaker Shyam Benegal the 2012 Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award and the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award to actress Madhuri Dixit.
An announcement in this regard was made by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan in the state assembly.
He also announced that the V Shantaram lifetime achievement award would be given to dancer Leela Gandhi and V Shantaram special contribution award to actor Dilip Prabhavalkar.
