Constables Shrikant Ghadge attached to the MRA Marg police station and Ramesh Shinde attached to Local Arms Unit-II at Tardeo were patrolling the area on a motorcycle when a speeding taxi driver hit their two-wheeler and fled.

Ghadge and Shinde who were injured immediately called their colleagues who took them to Bombay hospital.

“The incident occurred around 9.50 pm near the Mumbai Samachar Marg. Both constables sustained injuries on their legs. However, instead of taking them to a doctor, the taxi driver fled. We are trying to trace him on the basis of his vehicle’s registration number,” said Padmakar Juikar, senior police inspector of MRA Marg police station.

The police said a case of rash and negligent driving was registered against the unidentified taxi driver and investigations are on to trace the accused.
