Acting on a tip off, the sleuths recently intercepted Saadat Hussain Shabadri, his wife Shabana Nasreen and his mother Noorjahan at the arrival hall of terminal 2C of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport after they had landed from Dubai on an Emirates Airways flight, he said.

Upon inquiry, the trio stated they were not carrying any declarable goods. However, during frisking, 760 grams of gold worth Rs 21.75 lakh was found, according to the officer.

The trio was subsequently arrested under the relevant sections of Customs Act and the gold was seized, he said, adding that the trio was released on bail by court.
