As Chavan’s aunt reached the shop with the breakfast at 9am, she found the bodies lying on the floor. Chavan’s uncle and owner of the shop Vijay Pawar was at his native place. Navi Mumbai police commissioner Ahmad Javed said:

“Chavan and Jadhav were sleeping in the shop at night. We suspect someone may have entered the shop from the back door. Both of them have head injuries caused by a sharp weapon.”

“Prima facie, theft does not seem to be the motive as nothing was stolen. Personal enmity could be the reason as Chavan was the owner’s nephew. We will speak to him,” he added.
