The officers had received a complaint that an unknown person has damaged the telecommunication wire in this region, which was leading to communication lapses.

Inspector Shivajirao Bagal of the government railway police’s Dombivli station, said, “The incident took place at around 11.45am when the express train was coming from the Bhiwandi end and both the senior section engineers were working on the tracks on a bridge. They could not see the train due to sharp curve at the spot. They tried to run when they spotted it but got stuck on the bridge and were run over before they could get out of the way.

Dnyadev Genu Bendale, 45, a resident of Khadakpada in Kalyan, is survived by his wife Hemlata, 39, and son Akshay, who is studying in class 10. GS Birajdaar, 51, was resident of Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri, Pune.
