Deputy commissioner of police (zone 5) Dhananjay Kulkarni said they had recorded the initial statement of Sheth’s son Akash, who told them their business was incurring losses and Sheth was finding it tough to repay creditors. “We will now take a detailed statement about the specific losses that may have become a cause of worry for his father for the last two months,” Kulkarni said.

The police are waiting for Sheth’s call records to find out who was the last person Sheth spoke to. They will also question the family friend-cum-business associate whom Sheth met on Wednesday at Andheri, hours before the incident. The police refused to divulge his identity.
