The alleged incident took place on July 19, when the complainant Krittika Sharma, 27, a textile designer, went to collect her boarding card at the Delhi airport. According to Sharma, an airline staff at the check-in counter allegedly made her wait for 10 minutes. When his colleague asked him to issue her boarding card quickly as many fliers were waiting in the queue, he allegedly made a rude remark. “He said, mujhe usko ticket nahi dena hain. Mujhe usko sirf dekhna hain. (I do not want to give her the boarding card. I just want to keep staring at her),” said Sharma.

The alleged remark prompted her to report the matter to the airline’s duty manager.

After submitting a written complaint she was assured that the airline would take appropriate action. However, despite repeated calls made to the GoAir call centre and sending emails to its customer care department over the next two days she could not get an update on the issue. “Barring a woman staff member at the airline, the others kept giving me lame excuses coaxing me to withdraw the complaint,” Sharma added.

A GoAir spokesperson told HT that the incident was a case of miscommunication. “We are investigating the matter and corrective action will be taken.”

At the same time the airline’s customer care department sent an email to Sharma on Monday apologising for the incident.
