VB Mukne, senior inspector of Dongri police said, “Masum's mother Asgari Khatun, 35, told us on Wednesday that some unknown woman had approached her a month ago and asked some questions. She stated that the mystery woman may have kidnapped Masum. We are in the process of extracting details about the suspicious woman.” The police said they would now make sketch of the woman based on the description by Asgari.

The police admitted they were also probing the case on the lines of kidnapping after they had failed to find the child.

The officials have already formed two teams and have scanned all the dargahs in the neighbourhood.

They have intimated their counterparts in Thane and Navi Mumbai and have circulated Masum’s photograph there.
