Ali Zafar has been on stage several times before, but a recent performance may count as his most special one to date. The actor-singer visited his school in Lahore, where he’d topped in class ten, and ended up on stage, playing the guitar.

An insider close to Ali reveals the story: “He was invited by the faculty to witness their annual Battle Of The Bands competition, where several budding rock musicians play. One of them happened to be Ali’s younger brother, Danyal. He was playing ‘Wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd, and invited Ali on the stage.”

The actor, of course, sportingly went up and played the rhythm guitar alongside Danyal, who played the lead guitar. “Later, when Ali was invited to speak at the event, he proposed that music be taught as a proper subject in schools and that the school must take the initiative,” adds the insider.

An excerpt from Ali’s speech reads: “Children are taught various languages, sciences and arts as subjects. Music is a language, a science and an art, then why not music?” To this, the students gave him a huge round of applause.
