Passion drove him to its confines and further fuelled his zest to hang in there. But Kiran Jit Sant is now hoping to bump into a brighter day. Starting today, The Blues Club of India honcho will helm ‘Blues n Jazz for the Soul’ — a fest boasting of power-packed performances and divine melodies. And besides three days of gigs, in store are special workshops to help educate music lovers about the genres.

Packed with Indian and international acts, the fest promises a grand spread for rhythm fanatics to dig into. But gigs aren’t alone giving his morale a boost. “I’m pleasantly surprised at the number of enquiries pouring in for the jazz and blues workshops. Since there aren’t many avenues for people interested in jazz and blues, we decided to hold these workshops to introduce them to the basics. We’ll also promote the same through other clubs in future,” he says.

The workshops — free and open to all — will have musicians from participating bands chairing the sessions. Besides acquainting Delhiites with instrumental nuances and different styles of jazz and blues, the workshops will also be platforms for discussion. Says Kiran, “Members of many Delhi rock bands have enrolled themselves for the workshops. They, too, are showing keen interest in embracing the genres.” Great, we say!
