In keeping with its global format of Disclosed Locations, Undisclosed Artists, My Space is bringing down the massively popular Secret Shows to India, for the first time. The shows, which are free for Myspace.com members, bring down renowned musical acts on one stage. In India, the event flags off at the Bandra Amphitheatre in Mumbai, on Friday, May 29.
In the past, Secret Shows have internationally brought down artists of the likes of U2, Pink, Lilly Allen and Neil Diamond, but in India, the shows will initially concentrate on promoting independent artistes.
Hari Krishnan, Country Manager of My Space India, says, “Our primary focus is to give a prestigious platform and encourage independent musiciansbut we are surely looking down to bring international acts in the near future too.”
Krishnan also reveals that the artistes won’t be limited to the genre of rock or pop. “There are enough classical musicians and bhangra artistes on My Space already.. so in a Chandigarh-based Secret Show, we could have a popular bhangra, pop singer too.”
It doesn’t take much to attend the shows. Become a member of My Space, become a friend with http://www.myspace.com/secretshowsindiaand get a printout of your profile to the concert.. and you get to watch the show for free.
