Who can forget Hollywood hottie Cameron Diaz fumbling while trying to lend voice to Burt Bacharach’s I don’t know what to do with myself at a bar in My Best Friend’s Wedding? But Delhiites are bindaas. They are ‘idol’ material and don’t think twice before singing their lungs out. Maybe that’s why we now have a ‘Karaoke Bar’ in Harry’s at Ansal Plaza.

While this new restro-bar opens today, select nightspots have been hosting weekly karaoke nights for music enthusiasts. Head to one of these joints with friends this weekend.

This chic, 70s setting joint worth its fish and chips, kicks up a storm every Wednesday and Saturday when it allows customers to croon a melody or two. With a projector throwing lyrics, the foodies can treat their forks and knives as drumsticks and sing rock, pop, jazz and country anthems while on a nightout with pals. The restaurant also hosts Open Mike Nights every Friday allowing people to perform for others in attendance.

Time: 9 pm to midnight

Where: M-Block Greater Kailash 2; Tel 011-40535977

With a jukebox planted on the side, this Oriental food joint lets you woo your girl by singing Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and English tracks! To transform yourself into a singing sensation, all you need to do is reserve a ‘karaoke table’ by dropping in a call prior to the visit. Once there, the stage is set.

Time: 12 pm to midnight

Where: Third floor, MGF Plaza, MG Road, Sector 29, Gurgaon; Tel 0124-4379151

Other places that let you exercise your vocal chords are Kyoto (20, Huda Market Complex, Sector 15, Gurgaon) and 1 Café (Behind Select City Walk mall, Saket). Kyoto will resume its karaoke nights soon and Café will host them more often. So, start the riyaaz now!
