Spinning a rave wasn’t enough. Crossing borders seems to be their new mission. Homegrown talent, Jalebee Cartel is now getting playtime in major clubs around the world. After a wide European tour last year and mentions in numerous international compilations, the electro foursome has now been signed on by UK management company, Ideal DJs for all their international bookings.

For the outfit, it only means wider audiences, bigger clubs and successful collaborations. “We are looking forward to a year of big tours in Asia and Europe because those are the markets that really interest us right now. We are hopeful of collaborating with a lot of artistes worldwide,” says Arjun Vagale, Jalebee’s main man, defining the year ahead.

So besides an Indian audience shimmying to their beats, Jalebee is now looking to play at some of the biggest, current clubs in the world including Fabric, Ministry of Sound in London and even Ibiza. “I went to Ibiza earlier this year to meet some people and I was surprised when some of them knew about us. That is definitely a place where we would love to play next year and with Ideal, I’m sure that will happen,” adds Vagale.

For the uninitiated, Ideal DJs is one of the biggest electronic management agencies in the world, which handles artistes like Bora Bora, Ibiza resident Gordon Edge and Elite Force amongst others.

On the road ahead
For now, Vagale is busy planning his Europe and Asia tour for 2011. “We plan to hit Southeast Asia and the Middle East early next year and roundup Europe in the summer. That is when all the major music festivals happen and we definitely want to be on the artiste roster,” says Vagale.

Not just finding a new audience, Jalebee is also on the verge of finding a new sound. On the bill for the coming year are a lot of collaborations with experiments in new live sounds. Also, Vagale is keen on getting his solo identity established as DJ Arjun Vagale. For instance, Jalebee is releasing a four track EP with electronica artiste Pawas from Germany on December 23 and there is an original track that will be part of Irish producer Fergie’s next release from Tribal Rage Records. They are also playing with fresh funk and rock sounds with city band Something Relevant and Ashu from Blue Frog.

“We have been doing the same thing for the past four or five years. Now, I think is the time for us to explore new dimensions. We want to experiment with different genres and release new music. We are even open to something as crazy as collaborating with a trombone player,” adds Vagale.
