BARAMULLA: At least 44 people allegedly involved in militant activities were arrested in North Kashmir’s Baramulla area.

According to an army spokesman in Srinagar, an extensive search operation was launched by the security forces in Old Town during the wee hours of Monday.
“Joint teams of Army, Jammu Kashmir police, Border Security Force & Central Reserve Police Force conducted deliberate search operations in ten sensitive localities, including Qazi Hamam, Ganai Hamam, Taweed Gunj, Jamia and other mohallas reportedly being used as safe havens by terrorists,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman added that security forces sanitised the area searching over 700 houses in 12 hours on Monday. Based on specific inputs, 44 persons involved with terror-related activities have been apprehended during the operation.
The spokesperson also said that large quantity of incriminating material such as petrol bombs, Chinese and Pakistan flags, LeT and JeM letterhead pads, unauthorized mobile phones and seditious anti-national publicity material, were seized during the raids.
