SRINAGAR: Five soldiers were injured on Tuesday in an ongoing encounter near the Line of Control (LoC) with a group of terrorists, who were intercepted by the army when they were trying to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Superintendent of police, Kupwara Aijaz Ahmad Bhatt told HT that an infiltration bid near the LoC at the Machil sector of Kashmir’s Kupwata district resulted in a gun battle between the terrorists and the troops.

The official said the militants have been engaged by the soldiers and exchange of firing was going on till reports last came in.

Five soldiers were injured in the ongoing operation, the official said.
