BHOPAL: Congress MP from Guna and party chief whip in the Lok Sabha, Jyotiraditya Scindia lambasted the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh over it’s performance. He was speaking to reporters in Bhopal on Wednesday, before he headed to his constituency.
He also took potshots at the Prime Minister by alluding to the situation in Kashmir, increasing inflation, the claims of employment being made by the Centre and facilities being offered to sport stars.
Referring to Indian women PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar’s performance Scindia said, “We saw three stars in (Rio) Olympics and all three were women but Madhya Pradesh set a different record by being on the top in rape cases.”
“There is a systemic failure in Madhya Pradesh. The situation in health and education sectors in particular is worrying. Teachers were not found in schools in rural areas and doctors were not found in government hospitals.”
He went on to say the infant mortality rate was poor and much worse than the national average in the state and that spending in social sectors was also lagging behind several states including Bihar. He pointed out that more than 50% of the posts in the health sector were vacant. On corruption, he said the state’s development was hindered by scams.
He said the marriage of convenience between PDP and BJP was one of the major factors responsible for the present situation in Kashmir.
He also sought to banish the claims of employment generation being made by the Centre.
