Posing 10 questions to the Prime Minister, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said, “Is it a fact that a complaint was submitted to your office? Has the Prime Minister ordered an inquiry? If an inquiry has been ordered, when was it ordered and if it was not ordered, why was it not ordered as serious allegations have been made.”
Tewari was referring to the the report that between 2001 and 2006, a corporate group allegedly tapped phones of several VVIPs including cabinet ministers, top industrialists and senior bureaucrats. A lawyer, who at one point represented a corporate functionary involved in tapping phones, had sent a complaint to the PM.
Questioning the BJP’s silence on the issue, he said, “These are serious allegation as it is not about an individual.”
Meanwhile, the Reliance Group on Saturday said it was shocked at reports that refer to “completely illegal and criminal” wiretap and sought a thorough official probe. Reliance Group head Mukesh Ambani’s phone was allegedly tapped, according to the report filed to the Prime Minister.
