FIR against Mallya, 129 others for illegally selling ‘waqf’ property

LUCKNOW: Vijay Mallya, the liquor baron who left the country after legal and financial troubles, tops the list of 130 accused against whom the UP Shia Central Waqf Board has lodged an FIR for allegedly illegally selling waqf (endowment) property.

The pictures of the accused have now been made public on the UP Shia Central Waqf Board website which also mentions the action taken, including the fact that an FIR has been lodged in the matter.

Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, the BSP MLA from Rampur, and Rahil Alam, brother of former waqf minister Shahjil Alam, also figure on the list for the same reason.

Urban development minister Azam Khan, who is also in-charge of Muslim waqf, has been locked in a long drawn battle with a section of the Shia clergy.
