NAGPUR: Four people were swept away in Kuhi nullah near Ballarpur, Gadchiroli, after their car fell into it when the driver lost control of the vehicle, said reports from the divisional headquarters.

The passengers have been identified as Sachin Govindwar, Karan Kanwale, Pooja Rajurkar and Suvarna Rajurkar.
Heavy rains have hit Chandrapur and Gadchiroli over the past few days. In Gadchiroli district, hundreds of villages including Hemalkasa of Prakash Amte were devoid of all means of communication following incessant rains over the last four days. Nullahs and Parlakota river on Etapalli-Bhamrahgarh are in spate after the rains.
The water level of Aheri nullah rose because the water level of the nearby Pranhita river went above the danger limit. Yeravagu nullah, located on Ankisa-Aasaralli road bordering Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, flooded and 32 villages were cut off from the district headquarters.
In another development, all 33 gates of Gosikhurd irrigation dam have been opened up to a metre because of the rains and the Waingang that is in spate. There are consistent rains in the catchment area of Gosikhurd irrigation project for the past 72 hours. Irrigation department sources said 20mm rainfall was recorded in Gosikhurd dam area in the last 48 hours.
