Girl kills herself after feedback from teacher
NEW DELHI: A Class 7 student of a government school allegedly committed suicide at her home in west Delhi’s Vishnu Garden hours after attending a parent-teacher meeting at her school with her mother.
Though no suicide note was recovered from the room where the 12-year-old hung herself to death, police said she had been scolded by her mother and teacher for not focussing on studies.
The parent-teacher meeting was organised by the Delhi government at state-run schools across the city. Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged suicide.
Education department officials, however, said they had no details of the incident. “I do not know who has linked the suicide with the parent-teacher meeting,” one official said. Authorities at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in west Delhi’s Khyala, too, denied knowledge of the incident.
