A 26-year-old student of Chartered Accountancy (CA) was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his residence in Samvad Vihar society of Ahinsa Khand-2, Indirapuram on Saturday night, the police said. The deceased, Vineet Kumar, used to live alone while his family stayed in Bulandshahr.
The police said the incident came to light when a friend of Kumar’s from his coaching institute in Lakshmi Nagar had gone to his residence around 10pm on Saturday. “She said that Kumar had not come for coaching on Saturday and was not returning her calls either. When she reached his flat, she could hear the caller tune of Kumar’s cellular phone but there was no response from him. She then informed the security guard of the society and the police was informed,” Atul Kumar Yadav, circle officer, Indirapuram, said.
He said that the police tried break the door of the flat but could not do so as Kumar’s body was supported against the door. “There was an obstacle in opening the door and the lights were switched off as well. The police personnel had to sneak in a torch to see why the door could not be opened. We saw that Kumar’s body was supported on the door,” Yadav said.
Yadav said that Kumar’s body was found in a nude condition, with froth on the mouth and nails in a blue colour. His body was sent for a post-mortem examination and his family was informed.
Police suspect that Kumar committed suicide by consuming poison. However, no suicide note or poison was found in the house, they said.
“Kumar’s father said that he had failed in the CA final exam multiple times and had missed the pass score by 1.5 marks in the examination held in July. He had been trying for the last five years and had given the exam seven times but did not make it through. This could be a reason behind committing suicide. However, we can only confirm once the post-mortem report is out,” Yadav said.
Yadav said that Kumar’s laptop and mobile phone will also be checked to find out if he had planned to commit suicide. Kumar’s phone had 103 missed calls when the police found it.
Police said that Kumar’s father claimed he did not show any signs of depression and was, in fact, planning to organise a retirement party for his father on August 31.
