Noida and Greater Noida were identified as dens of corruption during the rule of previous governments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Greater Noida on Saturday.

Modi was addressing an event where he inaugurated the Archaeology Institute in the city, which was named after Bharatiya Jan Sangh leader Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

“Noida and Greater Noida have made an image for themselves where government funds are looted. The two industrial cities are known as places where tender and land allotment is a way to loot government funds.

“During previous governments, there used to be news about looting of government funds. But now, after our government, Noida and Greater Noida have started earning a reputation of cities which are creating jobs for youth,” Modi said.

He said in the times to come, Noida will create more jobs for youth.

“Under our Make in India campaign, we saw that India was placed at the second position in the world in the segment of mobile manufacturing. Before 2014, India had only two mobile manufacturing factories. From 2014 to 2019, the number went up to 125. You will be happy to know that most of these factories are in Noida,” the Prime Minister added.

He said Noida is emerging as a hub of manufacturing.

“Apart from mobile phones, Noida has units where refrigerators, television and other electronic products are being manufactured. We have created jobs for youth in these factories. And in future, the city will grow further and create more jobs. Our government is committed to providing required support for job creation in the future, like it has been in the past five years,” Modi said.

Modi said his government has not hesitated in taking tough action against corruption, no matter what happens to the PM’s safety.

“Some people keep abusing me because I have removed touts from the system. Obviously, they cannot praise me, so they keep abusing me, and want to get rid of me. But I do not fear them at all because the 125 crore people of this country are with me. The credit of this achievement of making a corruption free country does not go to me. It goes to you because you have given power to me,” the PM added.
