The Sahibabad police took two boys into custody late Wednesday night for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old student. The girl had lodged a complaint a few days ago and an FIR was filed.

The girl had missed two pre-board examinations after she was allegedly molested by the two.

One of the boys is a classmate of the complainant, while the other is his friend. The girl is from a locality under the Sahibabad police station in Ghaziabad. In her FIR, she had alleged that the boys were molesting her for over a month due to which she missed her social studies and arts examinations.

“We have taken both of them into custody and will follow legal procedure. Both of them are minors,” Anup Singh, circle officer (Sahibabad), said.

The girl had also claimed that the two boys were threatening her to convert to their religion. Since the incident came to light, members of a religious outfit have also sided with the girl to protect her.

“They used to follow me on a bike and touch me inappropriately while going to school and tuition. They threatened me and even told me to convert to their religion and stay with them. Initially, I did not tell my parents but when I told a friend, she told me to immediately disclose the matter to my parents,” the girl had said.

One of the boys, who is the girl’s classmate, was expelled from the school on Wednesday after the FIR was filed. The school principal said that he took action after the girl complained against him.

The police lodged an FIR under IPC sections for outraging the modesty of women, sexual harassment, assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation and also under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
