CM Punk suffers heavy loss vs Mike Jackson at UFC 225
CM Punk’s first professional fight on the main card of Ultimate Championship Fighting’s (UFC) 205 event nearly two years ago ended in an embarrassing knockout loss to Mickey Gall.
In his second pro fight at UFC 225, the former WWE star Punk put up a better showing but the man’s lack of experience in the octagon showed, despite him training hard for the match.
Punk, real name Phil Brooks, had the Chicago crowd chanting his name in the first round. However, Punk was unable to show any sense of force in the cage against Mike Jackson (1-1).
Jackson peppered Punk (0-2) with punches to the face throughout the fight and won in a lackluster unanimous decision.
The loss caps off a bittersweet week for the former WWE superstar. The lawsuit filed against him by former WWE doctor Chris Amann on defamation charges was dismissed by the court.
The charges stem from an episode of independent wrestler Colt Cabana’s podcast “The Art of Wrestling”, in which Punk accused Amann of medical malpractices besides spewing venom at his former employers.
Punk, who was featured on the main card of UFC 225, didn’t help his standing with the UFC after two disappointing showings and it will be interesting to see how he fares in his next UFC fight - should he get one.
