The sports ministry has taken a serious note of the selection policy for the WUG, under which the AIU has short-listed a 70-member squad.

Eyebrows were raised after the AIU failed to list the criteria under which the proposed squad was selected. As a result, the ministry is yet to clear the squad.

In a meeting on Thursday, top ministry officials questioned the details AIU had furnished on the selection procedure.

The ministry, it is learnt, also frowned upon the AIU's move to conduct trials for the meet from July 17, when the last date for entries was July 12.

"In case the AIU fails to provide details on the selection procedure, the ministry may not clear the trip at all," said a player.
