Chanda holds Ganguly, five share lead

Overnight leaders Sandipan Chanda and Surya Sekhar Ganguly played out a draw while three others joined them at the top of the table by winning with black pieces in the 8th round of the Asian Individual Chess Championship at Subic Freeport, Philippines, on Wednesday.

With three rounds to go, Chanda and Ganguly have 6 points from eight rounds and were sharing the lead in the Open Section with GM Hou Yifan of China, GM Antonio Rogelio Jr of Philippines and GM Zhou Weigi of China.

In the women's section, Tania Sachdev lost to Gu Xiaobing of China while Eesha Karavade and Nisha Mohota drew their eighth
round games.
