The seasoned shooter shot 590 to edge past Madhya Pradesh's Rajkumari Rathore, who must be ten-years junior to her, by one point to win title. Rathore had to settle for second place while Lajja Gauswami from Gujarat was third at 588.
Deshpande's teammate Tejaswini Muley, however, wasn't able to prop up her performance in the junior event, thus slipping to third spot. She shot 579. In a keen contest, Karuna Sagar of Uttar Pradesh won the gold with a score of 582 while Jayashee Das of West Bengal who also had an identical score had to settle for silver.
In the men centre fire pistol, marksmen from Army dominated the contest, with Pemba Tamang walking away with day's honour, scoring 582 for gold. Harpreet Singh (577) and Gurpreet Singh (575) got silver and bronze, respectively.
In the junior division, Samarjit Singh of Uttrakhand shot 561 for first place. Ajitesh Kaushal (560) and Manpreet Singh (559) were second and third.
