India overcame France 2-1 after losing the opening singles in the playoff.

The match was for 5-8 positions at the World Junior boys squash championship here. France went 1-0 up after their top seed Lucas Serme defeated Aditya Jagtap in straight games Friday.

Ramit Tandon, however, pulled the tiding back in India’s favour also with a straight games victory against Damien Volland.

In the decider, Ravi Dixit, had a lapse in concentration in the second which he lost but managed to regain his focus.

This was after he had won his first game comfortably.

Eventually, he managed to win his match convincingly in the fourth game against Arthur Moineau.

India next play New Zealand for 5-6 positions.
