Suranjoy boxes his way to final

India’s Suranjoy Singh stormed into the final of the 51kg weight category at the AIBA President's Cup boxing tournament in Baku. Representing Asia-I, Suranjoy outclassed Braulio Avila of Mexico by 10-4 in the semifinal played on Thursday, reports HT Correspondent.

The Manipur boxer started off aggressively and kept on increasing the lead till the end. After the round one, the score was 2-0 in his favour of the India pugilist. By round two he extended it to 7-2 to ensure at least a silver medal. Earlier in the quarterfinal, Suranjoy beat Olympic bronze medallist Vicenzo Picardi of Italy.
