Suranjoy boxes his way to final
India’s Suranjoy Singh stormed into the final of the 51kg weight category at the AIBA President's Cup boxing tournament in Baku. Representing Asia-I, Suranjoy outclassed Braulio Avila of Mexico by 10-4 in the semifinal played on Thursday, reports HT Correspondent.

India’s Suranjoy Singh stormed into the final of the 51kg weight category at the AIBA President's Cup boxing tournament in Baku. Representing Asia-I, Suranjoy outclassed Braulio Avila of Mexico (representing America-II team) by 10-4 in the semifinal played on Thursday.
The Manipur boxer started off aggressively and kept on increasing the lead till the end. After the round one, the score was 2-0 in his favour of the India pugilist. By round two he extended it to 7-2 to ensure at least a silver medal. Earlier in the quarterfinal, Suranjoy beat Olympic bronze medallist Vicenzo Picardi of Italy.
