It was supposed to be a joyous occasion. Sahara India’s polo team, the Warriors, was all set to make its debut at the Indian Masters. But at the eleventh hour, trouble brewed. A bad bout of Delhi belly forced five-goaler George Meyrick of England to be hospitalised. HT reports.

And another first-team member, Akhil Sirohi, was forced to withdraw after the Navy denied him permission to compete for a civilian team.

The Warriors still managed to pull ahead in the final chukkar, taking the opening league match 10-8 against IPG Young India.
