Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said it had been proved in the investigation that Deva ‘misused his position to travel on the pass.

Amanullah said Deva, a 1993 batch IPS officer, was caught travelling on the railway pass of DSP, Arshad Zaman, in Bangalore on August 30 last. Subsequently, he was fined Rs 3,713. He was released after furnishing a bail bond of Rs 25,000.

The government had ordered a probe into the matter. Amanullah said Zaman has also been asked to explain under what circumstances he had given his pass to Deva. Zaman may also face action in the matter, the Home Secretary added. Zaman is presently DSP, BMP (headquarters).
