Taking a cue from the ruling Left Front in West Bengal, the Left parties on Friday announced that a day-long bandh would be observed in Bihar on June 10 to pressurise the Centre to roll back the petroleum price hike and rein in skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

The shut-down called by Bihar state committees of the CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML, Forward Block, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Krantikari Manch and RSP Front, would be of 12-hour duration, according to a joint press release issued by leaders of these parties.
The parties appealed to the people to extend their full support to make the bandh "a grand success."
"The decision by the UPA government passed a tremendous burden on the people, which could have been avoided," the parties felt.
