Unidentified cyber vandals have hacked the official website of Bihar tourism, heaped abuse on Indians and posted the slogan, “Pakistan zindabad”. The hacking of www.bihartourism.gov.in was discovered on Saturday.
“The site was immediately blocked and postings removed,” said Bihar tourism minister Sunil Kumar Pintu.
Official sources said it was significant that the attack came so soon after the Hyderabad twin blasts of Thursday. The hackers had even posted images of the Hyderabad blasts, said an official, but this could not be independently confirmed.
“One of the messages posted by the hackers read: Indians beware, stop abusing us, else we will retaliate,” said a senior police officer.
An official said the data logs indicated that the posts originated from a private company based in Jaipur.
“I have asked Inspector General (economic offences unit) Praveen Vashista to conduct an inquiry into the matter,” said Bihar director general of police (DGP) Abhayanand.
The National Informatics Center (NIC) and a Mumbai-based firm, which had designed the website, have been asked to take action to avoid a recurrence of such incidents, Pintu said.
