Bihar universities are known for being very slow in academic reforms, but here is a shocker!

They are slow even in updating vital information about change of guard in the office of the Chancellor of Universities. For most of the state universities, former governor DY Patil, who completed his term on November 26 last, continues to be the chancellor on their official websites.

Except for four universities, other universities are yet to make the necessary change in chancellor’s column, even though six days have elapsed since Patil’s successor Keshri Nath Tripathi took oath as Bihar’s 35th governor.

Magadh University website still has the picture of Patil, while JP Univeristy carries only the name at the top of administrative hierarchy. Veer Kunwar Singh University carries the old message of Patil sent in April on the occasion of Veer Kunwar Singh Vijayotsav celebrations in the column of Chancellor’s message. Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur Univeristy and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, too, have the picture of Patil at the top of administrative hierarchy, with the official e-mail ID. BRA Bihar University has the right link of Raj Bhawan on its website, which was promptly updated the day Tripathi took charge. Patna Univeristy, Nalanda Open Univeristy and Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University have also made quick changes.

A Raj Bhawan official said, it was something the universities should have done the day Tripathi took over. “Some of them may also have attended the swearing in function,” he added
