3 killed as wall collapse at Tunisia's UNESCO World Heritage Site

Three killed as a portion of the ancient walls in the Old City of Kairouan collapsed on Saturday during repairs at the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Kairouan medina, inscribed on the UNESCO heritage list since 1988, is surrounded with massive city walls which were under renovation when the accident took place according to Tunisia's Civil Protection. (AFP)

Two workers were also injured in the accident, as a 30-meter (100-foot) long section of the six-meter (20-foot) high walls near the Gate of the Floggers collapsed to the ground, as reported by the Civil Protection department.  (AFP)
