The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Yogesh Raj, a Bajrang Dal activist, for the murder of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr on December 3, 2018. Raj was arrested from the Khurja area in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. He had been on the run ever since violence erupted in Bulandshahr over alleged cow slaughter. (PTI)

The Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction with the rescue efforts to trace the 15 Meghalaya miners who have been trapped for 22 days. “We pray to God that all are alive,” the top court said on a petition that wanted the government to be ordered to scale up the rescue efforts. A 42-year-old woman, who was allegedly shot at by former Janata Dal(United) legislator Raju Singh during celebratory firing at a New Year’s Eve party, died early today. Singh, hosting a party at a south Delhi farmhouse, allegedly fired two to three shots and one of them hit Archana Gupta, an architect. He was detained by Delhi Police yesterday. The man also took inappropriate photos of her and sent them to her husband and employer.
