Photos: Torrential rains damage homes and crops in Maharashtra

After Telangana, low pressure winds have caused days of torrential rain in Western Maharashtra – bringing in damaging floods, landslides and severe water-logging in the low lying areas of five districts. Solapur has been worst affected with 32,521 people displaced, followed by Pune district where 6,221 people were affected. At least 48 people have lost their lives and over seven lakh hectares of crop have been damaged in the state due to heavy rains in the region.

People gathered at the spot of a wall collapse due to the heavy rain in Solapur district on October 14. According to a PTI report, six people were killed after a wall on the banks of the Chandrabhaga river in Pandharpur collapsed following a spell of rain on October 14. As many as 48 people have been reported killed in rain related incidents in Maharashtra. (PTI)
